60's music project help (suggestion)?

Our english 12 class is doing a huge last 60's project as we don't have time for hamlet, but I'm not familiar with the time period besides knowing the fact it was a time of a lot of social unrest and some key dates from previous history and social classes. My group is in charge of 60's music and it's influence it had on people and in society. Again I know thier are the beatles and bob dylan. I'm in charge of the early sixties and the influences of music in the early part of the sixties. Bob dylan and the beatles are taken I'm sure their are many other's but I'm not sure which musicians had a great impact in the early 60's. any suggestions of songs and artist pls.
